NOTICE OF VACANCY
POSITION: CTE Health Science I Teacher
REPORTS TO: Jr/Sr High School Principal
STARTING DATE: August 2025
SUMMARY: This course will provide students with skills and practical hands-on experiences in the healthcare field to provide the marketable job skills necessary to be successful in future employment. The course is an exploratory CTE Healthcare offering and a prerequisite to the advanced Health Sciences II course.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Michigan Department of Education CTE Teacher Certification with Therapeutic Services 51.000 endorsement; or
- Be eligible for an Annual Career Authorization. ACA requires an Associate’s Degree or higher in a health-related field with 4,000 hours of recent and relevant work experience in the last ten years (with the most recent work within six years).
- Electronic fingerprint clearance from a criminal history record check.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous teaching experience.
- Experience with high school students.
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) background, or experience as a medical assistant, radiologic technician, or other licensed healthcare professions.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching healthcare-related course(s) through the CTE consortium, supervising any related activities or programs/ conventions, ordering materials and supplies, budgeting, reviewing curriculum and data, facilitating program advisory committee meetings, providing state-required reporting information to the CTE consortium, communicating with parents, ensuring a safe learning environment, maintaining course-related supplies and equipment, and setting goals to ensure continuous program improvement and student success.
SALARY: As per the negotiated CEA contract.
