NOTICE OF VACANCY
POSITION: CTE Public Safety Teacher
REPORTS TO: Jr/Sr High School Principal and St. Joseph County CTE Director
SUMMARY: This course will provide students with skills and practical hands-on experiences in the public safety and protective services field, and provide the marketable job skills necessary to be successful in future employment. The course is an exploratory CTE Public Safety offering.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Michigan Department of Education CTE Teacher Certification with Public Safety/Protective Services 43.0100 endorsement; or
- Be eligible for an Annual Career Authorization. Details are available at this link.
- Electronic fingerprint clearance from a criminal history record check.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous teaching experience.
- Experience with high school students.
- Public Safety/Protective Services and/or Fire Protection background; i.e., police officer, firefighter, corrections officer, probation officer, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching public safety/ protective service course(s) through the CTE consortium, supervising any related activities or programs/conventions, ordering materials and supplies, budgeting, reviewing curriculum and data, facilitating program advisory committee meetings, providing state-required reporting information to the CTE consortium, communicating with parents, ensuring a safe learning environment, maintaining course-related supplies and equipment, and setting goals to ensure continuous program improvement and student success.
SALARY: As per the negotiated CEA contract and relevant experience.
