NOTICE OF VACANCY

 

 

POSITION:                Special Education Teacher

 

REPORTS TO:            Building Principal

 

STARTING DATE:      Immediately

 

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Special Education Endorsement.
  • Graduate of a recognized college or university.
  • Highly Qualified, as defined by the Michigan Department of Education.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current certification in district-approved crisis de-escalation and non-violent physical intervention (i.e., CPI, Safety-Care).
  • Full endorsement in Emotional Impairment (SE) under MARSE R 340.1787.
  • Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Two to three years of experience providing behavioral intervention, PBIS, or teaching in an early elementary special education setting.
  • Sound knowledge of Michigan Special Education Rules, including R340.1706 (Emotional Impairment Criteria), R 340.1741 (EI Programs), R 340.1721b (Timelines), and R 340.1781/R 340.1783 (Teacher Endorsement/Approvals).
  • Deep understanding of early childhood behavior modification, PBIS, FBA/BIP formulation, trauma-informed practices, and developmentally appropriate co-regulation.
  • Proficiency in data-driven decision-making, daily behavioral tracking systems, and converting behavioral data into actionable IEP goals.
  • Strong early elementary pedagogy skills, with the ability to deliver foundational academic instruction (phonics, early math) integrated with social-emotional skill-building.

 

SALARY:   As per the contract.
